Old Mission
Preserved from our past history, the Old Wyandot Mission Church is the site of the Methodist's first North American mission. This structure has been restored over the years, and it displays historical pictures and documents. In the summer months, a service is still held in the building and has even had weddings performed there. This building dates back to the 1820s and is designated a national shrine by the United Methodist Church. It is located on North
Church Street in the Old Mission Cemetery.
Behind the Mission is a small fenced in area containing the graves of John Stewart, and some of the Christian Indians. The gravestone in the picture is of Christiana Haag. It has made several publications across the United States. Can you tell why?
